May I recommend Daniel Horowitz. He was on fire through all of covid, bringing the doctors on to his show to share the data and research. He doesn’t care for the Republican Party because he sees how they don’t serve the people either, in fact he frequently rails against his fellow conservative commentators. He tries to act, not just talk. https://www.theblaze.com/u/danielhorowitz

I’m with you on Rubin. There’s smarm factor there, or too much of a desire to be liked. He wants to reach the conservative market without actually being a conservative. Crowder I could tell was a jerk from the start. Matt Walsh habitually takes extreme positions that would never fly in the real world, but he comes from a real place and is damn entertaining! I don’t have to agree with every view a podcaster has. For me, though, Andrew Klavan is very good. He’s thoughtful and he has original ideas on how to navigate the culture. Also very often damn entertaining. I wouldn’t call Bret Weinstein anywhere close to on the right, but he and Heather Heying are great. Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions. Some new names for me.

Did you see Matt Walsh's What Is a Woman? While I disagree with him on a lot of the extreme stuff he says, that documentary was fantastic. So was Candace Owens's The Greatest Lie Ever Told about George Floyd and BLM.

When I had a Daily Wire subscription, Andrew Klavan was one of my favorites to tune into. I felt like he kept it real most of the time and he's just so freaking smart. It's a shame that the DW team are gated off by the subscription. I don't like having to buy into an entire organization -- especially when it's led by someone like Shapiro -- if I only want to listen to a couple of the shows.

No, I haven't see those, for the reason you cite, a reluctance to subscribe, but I've heard only good things. Of course, they are not totally gated off. Klavan's show comes up on YouTube minus the member's block. I especially like his take on the arts. Being a 'pundit' is not his full time job, which makes him more well-rounded than some others.

Thanks for the recommendation! I've added it to my list.

I used to listen to some of the shows on TNT Radio. I remember some of them started supporting the vaxx though, so that's when I tuned them out. They also gave Nicola Charles the boot this year over something she said. I don't know what exactly went down, but I'm assuming she called into question a UK politician that they're not allowed to denigrate. https://twitter.com/nicola1charles/status/1632604339150950400

It's a shame because her podcast was taken down earlier this year, too, if I remember correctly. So she's had to rebuild everything on top of losing the TNT gig. If you haven't listened to her before, I'd suggest checking out her Twitter. She tells it like it is. Not very actionable, but it's still empowering all the same.

I love this. I've talked to so many teachers who tell me that reading just isn't a thing anymore. They can read for the sake of passing the SATs, but it's more of a technical skill than a critical thinking one. I really do think it's up to the families to reinforce a passion for reading. It's the only way we're going to hold onto it!

Good for you! We'd all be better off if we did the same. But I do think that old habits die hard. It's just so easy to turn on the TV and zone out with unoriginal or woke-ified programming than to work on acquiring a new skill or to develop a healthy new habit. The same holds true for tuning into news shows and podcasts that we once adored and trusted. Many people would rather not go out and hunt for the truth if they can get 10% of it from their usual sources. Ugh.
