My posts were being seen by five people, on average. And when I replied to anyone, I got buried under the More Replies banner. It felt like going to a party, finally finding a group of interesting people to converse with, only to be stuck observing their great conversation because I couldn't get a word in edgewise.

I've slowly been pulling myself away from Twitter these last few months. As I've let go of that crutch, I've been able to meet people in the real world who are interested in these matters. No one's really as much of a zealot about this stuff as the people I've met online, but I think that's a good thing. It's important to be aware of what's going on, but the all-consuming nature of it online is toxic. At least that's how I feel about it.

Good for you!!! Love the relationship analogy.

Your use of the old common sense parable is great too. "You shall know them by their fruits.".
